Imperial nature
"Finally, it's clear that the Hero does not look well in this bag. He needs a stage or a pedestal or a pinnacle. You put him in a bag and he looks like a rabbit, like a potato."
Imperial nature goes hand in hand with the culture of catcalling, as it is a way for men to exert their power and dominance over women.
Conflict
When a women does not fit into a catcallers expectations and decides to defend herself there is often conflict.
- construct a safe environment for life stories to exist
- create understanding amongst men and possibly cat callers
- make use of all the aspects involved in cat calling, such as audio, sight, feeling, reasoning,...
- decide what you want to tell, what message do you want to convey
- shouldn't be heroic, but real
- a narrative can be built of multiple stories
- a structure doesn't have to be linear
We’ve been submerged into the killer story and have learnt to accept an objective perspective on the world. The hero exists in the spotlight while other life stories are ignored, manipulated or unheard. This poses a question: how to let other people’s voices heard? How to get over “the Hero”? Who is it anyways? Ursula proposes the carrier bag as a new subject to tell the story of lives, opposing to the killing spear.
