I once went out to this party of IFFR (the filmfestival rotterdam), which was in de Schouwburg Rotterdam. I was wearing this top with mesh fabric, which was quite see-through and you could see my bralette through it. I was dancing and this guy walks past and just out of nowhere put his hand in my top and completely touches my boob. I was so shocked that I couldn't respond in any way. Then he just grinned at me and walked away. He was around 30 years old and it was so disgusting. His friend was standing behind him and he kind of looked at me with pity because I felt like he didn't approve of the guy's action, but he didn't say anything.

A guy just touched my boob without any notice or anything. Just a stranger walking by. But then again I was too shocked to say something ack

Around midnight I get into the lift to the Maastunnel. A guy walks up to the lift and gets in with me. He says: 'I'm going to follow you' and stares at me the whole time we are in the lift. I manage to get away from him as he didn't have a bike and I did.

Create an interactive map, where people are encouraged to add experiences related to street harassment.
Possibility to add audio instead of text to create a more personal aspect, however importance to protect the participant and their identity.
CATMAP
24 HOURS OF FREEDOM
Have you ever had that moment when you are picking out your outfit and avoid wearing a specific garment because you know you will get catcalled.

Imagine a utopia where there is no catcalling or street harassment FOR 24 HOURS, what would you wear?

Collect peoples answers and create a collection of harassment free outfits. Could be in the form of an analog and digital fashion catalogue.
MOODBOARD
Could be interesting to have individual stories of where each person would wear their outfit. What event are they going to? Is it just for fun? Is it summer or winter?
ANALOG POSSIBILITIES
COLLAGES FEMINICIDES PARIS

Feminist group that write quotes on paper and paste them all over cities. Reference from Carla, saying that they are nearly in every street of Paris now.
FEEDBACK 05/10
— Combine clothing catalogue with map
— the map alone is too superficial to communicate to everyone
— using abandoned clothing piece is a good conversation starter
- a piece of clothing can tell a story
STICKER ZINE
I hand out multiple zines containing stickers with quotes regarding street harassment to various women. Whenever they feel unsafe, are being harassed or want to forewarn others, they can place the relevant sticker in the area. This could be linked to a hashtag, f.ex. #stopcatcallsrdam, which could link to an online platform, such as the map.

Alongside the sticker zine there would be a fold-out zine that educates the reader on the culture of catcalling. This zine would be hung in places where people linger to encourage them to use their waiting time to read and learn.
COMBINE WITH '24 HOURS OF FREEDOM' IDEA (SEE BELOW)
Collect images of other woman's unworn garments, due to fear of being sexualised and make them into posters, plastering them over the city.

THE POSITION OF THE READER
The map would take on the role of a story book. The reader is encouraged to navigate through it, read stories, share their own.

Alongside the map there will be textual text, content is yet undecided, however I could imagine an ethnographic study on the areas of Rotterdam and how certain parts are more dangerous for women than others.
THE POSITION OF THE READER
The reader is strongly encouraged to become a participant, wether its by adding stickers to the city or by education friends and family on the matter,
THE POSITION OF THE READER
PROJECTS 40
READY MADE IDENTITIES
The exhibition examines the symbolism, coded messages, and rich lexicon of information implicit in the fabric and design of apparel.
The narrative structure is linear. It aims to explain street harassment and terms such as gaslighting, male gaze, etc. in an understandable manner.

Alongside the explanation of the problem, the reader becomes part of other peoples stories. By reading the stories associated to the non worn garments, the reader is placed into the mind of the story teller.

Realistic question: How to get enough content? Is it doable within the time frame?

The stickers will come with the pamphlet handout and are a sort of witness statement to the experiencing of street harassment.

The type used in the stickers is meant to reflect the quote being expressed. The colour palette consists of 4 different colours which are meant to create a coherent and recognisable design.
